Young People in the Justice System: A Review of the Young Offenders Act 1994

The Young Offenders Act 1994 (YOA) provides for the administration of youth justice in Western Australia. It informs the way in which corrective services, police and the courts work with young people in the justice system.

The Department of Corrective Services has developed the green paper ‘Young People in the Justice System: A Review of the YOA’ to ensure the YOA is achieving its objectives in the context of contemporary research and evidence about what works in youth justice.

How to make a submission

The release of the green paper is designed to generate open conversation about youth justice in WA, and the Department is interested in receiving your feedback. All submissions will be taken into consideration as part of this review.

To respond to the discussion points and proposals outlined in the paper, please use the attached submission form. Information regarding how to submit can be found on page two of the submission form.

The closing date for submissions is 7 April 2017.

If you have any inquiries or require additional information please contact the Department at secretariatYJB@correctiveservices.wa.gov.au.
