Reparative mediation

Reparative mediation is when a victim of an offence may meet with the offender to work out the type of compensation acceptable to both parties.

In this way, the victim has the opportunity to have meaningful compensation from the person who caused their loss and the offender has the chance to make amends.

A mediator from the Victim-offender Mediation Unit (VMU) is present at these discussions.

The service is available to victims and offenders of offences who have been referred by the court or Community and Youth Justice Services office.
